  1. What lessons do you offer?
    We have a variety of different musical instrument tuition to choose from; Piano, Guitar (Electric and Acoustic), Bass Guitar, Singing, Violin, Cello, Saxophone, Mandolin, Woodwind and Percussion, please see our ‘Tutors‘ page or ‘Contact us‘ to find out more.

  3. Do you teach beginners?
    Yes we teach all abilities from beginner to intermediate and advanced.
  4. What shall I bring to my first lesson?
    Unless you are learning to play piano, you will need to bring your chosen instrument and any previous music and grade work you may have completed before joining the academy. This is to give the tutors a good idea of what you have learnt previously and the next steps for you. We will provide teaching materials and also advise you of anything you may wish to purchase yourselves. If you wish to hire instruments we have local contacts who can provide this service, just mention that when you ‘Contact us‘ regarding a lesson booking.
  5. Do you offer grades?
    Yes we offer all the tuition you will need to complete grades in your chosen instrument. The examinations themselves are held by the ABRSM, you can have a look at their website for more information. We will be able to assist you in booking your chosen examination and prepare you in full.
  6. Do you provide group lessons?
    Yes we can provide 1:1, paired or small group sessions assuming the pupils are of a similar ability. The price structure for group lessons is discounted per pupil. Please ‘Contact us‘ for more information regarding this.
  7. How does the payment system work?
    Thame music academy will invoice you within the last week of every calendar month for the following months lessons, this should be paid in full by the date specified on your invoice to ensure your preferred lesson times and tutor are available.

  9. How long will it take for me to learn a song?
    We always endeavour to get our beginners up and running and playing their first song within the first couple of lessons.
  10. Do you teach different styles of music?
    Yes, we will always teach your preferred genres and styles when possible to ensure you are getting maximum enjoyment out of your instrument.
  11. What age range do you teach?
    We can teach anyone from 6 – 106! If you are keen to learn we can tailor our lessons for any age.
  12. What happens if I can’t make my lesson?
    If you are unwell or unable to attend your lesson we request a minimum of 24 hours notice for lesson cancellation. In this instance tutors will attempt to re-schedule for an alternative date. If you are planned a holiday or a special event please ‘Contact us‘ a minimum of 48 hours in advance. If we are notified after these time scales your lesson will still be charged in full.
  13. What areas do you cover? We cover all towns and villages local to Thame, please ‘Contact us’ for directions.
